Birthday girl - La fêtée

Today is my 32nd birthday. The celebrating part of it was mostly done on Friday and Saturday. I received lovely presents and cards and ate delicious food. I had good company on both days and evenings. My coworker surprised me with a card she had the kids make and sign in secret on Friday afternoon which was definitely a good surprise.

Today, I decided to change things on my blog. So I picked a new template and made a mosaic banner following Elise's tutorial. Only, I used GIMP because I don't have Photoshop. I'm happy with the results, considering it's my first attempt at a banner. Let me know what you think...

Fall

No, I did not fall down the rabbit hole. I am simply rethinking this whole blog thing. Changes are bound to happen. Hopefully soon.

Thinking about 32

Thinking about 32

So. Again, I've managed to stay away from the blog, without meaning to. Ah well, such is life! (I love saying that.)

Life is moving along nicely. Work is going very well. My new co-worker is a nice a girl and we seem to click so far. My group of kids is easy going and, even though I don't have a lot of girls, fun to be with and talk to. And they are looking forward to most of the activities.

On the art front, I've been keeping busy. Every day I make a page for my September journal. I love the way it's turning out. I'll share some photos with you soon. I've also made the mini book I'm holding in this photo. It's done with a technique I learned in the online class. Very fun! I titled my book "32 coming soon" but it's actually all in french inside. My birthday is coming up in a little over a month. (I'm just stating a fact here. My birthday is really no big deal.) So I decided to record some thoughts and wishes I may have for this new year in my life. I will also share photos of this book later.

Today's photo: well, it's just me being silly. My hair is getting long and I decided to let my bangs grow... again!

I'll try to post again soon. Ciao!

Sophie in September

It has been a while since I've taken an online class but when Elise announced her Visual Adventures class, I had to sign up. The class started Monday and I've already learned new techniques and tips!

This is my journal cover. I might still add to it, maybe some flowers and/or buttons, I'm not sure yet. I decided to make the journal 8x10 so I can incorporate smaller sized pages too. The theme of the journal is Sophie en Septembre (Sophie in September) and will be about my thoughts, ideas, adventures during this month. So far, 2 pages have been done and today's page will be done later tonight. I will show you more from this journal throughout the month. So be sure to visit again!

Ciao!

Winner

According to Random.org, the winner is number 3: Janet! Congratulations! Send me an email with your mailing info (sophietousignant[at]videotron[dot]com) and I'll mail your goodies soon!

I haven't done a lot of artsy stuff lately. With work starting last week, I was tired a lot and a little bit overwhelmed. This week, hopefully, will be different. Well, it does help that I signed up for an online class and it started today. In the past few weeks, the only creative stuff I've done is writing my morning pages, making my daily lists in my big art journal and a little bit of counted cross-stitch (which has been started about 10 years ago.) And since I don't have photos of those little so-called creations, I'm showing you a photo of Diesel I took last week. She's an indoor cat but I like to put a leash on her and bring her out on the balcony. She loves it! She even asks for it! Well, sort of... I really like how the photo came out with the almost washed out background completely out of focus.

Anyway, I'm off to watch DVDs of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and create a little something. Ciao!

For Kathy and CeeCee

Last week, Kathy V, CeeCee, her daughter Stuuph, Maman KoolAid and myself spent a day in and around Burlington, shopping and having lots of fun. Before getting to our location, we saw this F-18 flying over us. I managed to snap this shot in the nick of time! It was quite a sight to behold!

The day was fun though exhausting (I had trouble sleeping last week) and of course we went to Micheal's amongst other places. I was good and only bought things on my list! Mostly frames to display some prints I bought over the last few years. I did buy a couple of DVDs at another store, 2 movies I love and have wanted in my collection for quite some time: The Fifth Element and Practical Magic (thought of you, Lisa, when I found this one!)

Anyway, I enjoyed that day very much and will probably go visit Burlington again but maybe next time I'll keep the shopping to a minimum (would love to visit a bit and take photos.)

Tomorrow, I'll post a giveaway so come back for a chance to win some goodies!
