Some leftovers

A good way to lower your stash of bits and leftovers is to make mini cards after your main project.

For the last 2 cards I showed you, I had quite a bit of paper left. The bigger pieces were put away since they can contribute to other regular-sized cards or to scrapbooking. But the smaller pieces, the leftovers, were used to make some small "thank you" cards. They are approximately 2,5" x 3,5". They are very simple and took between 5 and 10 minutes to complete (including choice of stamps.) So far I only made those 2 but plan on making more this week in a similar way.

I've been doing a lot of cleaning and decluttering lately. Getting ready for a fun summer. My father and brother came over today to take my sofa-bed out of here and to bring in a new-to-me La-Z-Boy. I have a lot more room in my living room now and will be much more comfortable. I've also been hanging paintings and other decorative items on my walls. I'm far from being done with decoration. Lots of stuff to get framed and to hang on my walls. I haven't even tackled the kitchen's walls yet! (Well, there's only the 1 wall I can decorate in there but it's still bare...)

I have plans to keep decluttering this week and probably do some paintings too. And I will have a giveaway sometime soon because I reached 10,000 visitors this weekend. That's cause for celebration don't you think? Now, I'll just go relax with a cup of tea and a good book... I'm completely obsessed with the Black Dagger Brotherhood. *sigh*

Dawn McVey's CC#7 + CPS117

When I'm on a roll... Another card that I made for some challenges. This time for Dawn McVey's Color Challenge #7 and CPS 117.

Again, I used Stampin' Up! colours and stamps. They are: Certainly Celery, Always Artichoke and Pink Passion for the colours. And the stamps are: Totally Tabs, Stampin' Around Dotted Lines and Pocket Silhouettes. I also used the Tab punch and a circle punch as well as a corner rounder.

For the "floating" flowers, I coloured only one of them with a marker to stamp it where I wanted it.

Mojo Monday 88 + KW Color Inspiration 53

For a couple of weeks now, I've been itching to make cards and participate in some challenges. After seeing some beautiful cards made by my dear friend CeeCee, I decided to finally go for it. So this card was done for 2 challenges: KWerner design's Color Inspiration #53 and Mojo Monday's sketch #88.

The card was made with colours from Stampin' Up! : Real Red, Summer Sun, Pacific Point, Basic Black and Whisper White. The space ship stamp is from the SU! set Pun Fun and was coloured with my Blender pen and classic ink. The stars are from the SU! set Halloween Frights. The brads are from my stash (brand unknown.)

One more card

This card I made for another co-worker. Her birthday is this Saturday. I used a Stampin' Up! stamp, K & Company paper and Core'dinations cardstock.

My week is still going well. Yesterday I watched the Lost season finale with my mother. All I have to say is WOW! Today, I had lunch with some of my co-workers and my boss. We talked and laughed a lot. Tomorrow night I'm going to CeeCee's for our Stamp Club. Looking forward to it.

Two sides

I made this card for a friend's birthday. I used Magnolia stamps as well as papers from K & Company.

Another sunny day. How wonderful. Anik and I had scheduled part of the afternoon in the computer lab with the kids but it was so beautiful that I decided to go outside with those who wanted to join me. Which was almost half of the kids. The other half did go the lab with Anik though.

My job isn't easy most days. But once in a while, I have a great conversation with one of the kids or we have a good laugh and it makes everything worth it. The good moments with the kids definitely weight more than the bad ones in the balance. And it's not necessarily because of the amount of those moments. More because of their quality.

Every medal has two sides. Which side are you looking at?

Mother's Day card

This is the card I made for Mother's day. I used a stamp from Stampin' Bella and papers from K & Company. The flowers and ribbon are from my stash.

I had a good day today. I dug out my funky earrings and wore a pair that looks like telephones. I ate healthy food and drank lots of water. I smiled through most of the day. Even the not so great parts. And I went for a walk after dinner. I feel good. And now I'm going to bed.

There's something in the hair

This photo was taken this morning.

I've always been a "long hair" person. Still am. But because I want to welcome change in my life, I've decided to cut my hair. It's not done yet (I have an appointment in June.) And I don't know what kind of look I'm going for. I just know that I want it short enough that it won't bother me this summer but I still want to look feminine. And as for colour... I'm too young to have so many grey hairs (you can't see them in the photo but they really are there... I'm telling you CeeCee!!!) So I'll keep getting it coloured. So this hair saga is... to be continued!

And maybe I'll make a scrapbook page about my different hairstyles... we'll see...

09 May 2009

This photo was taken a year ago.

What has changed since then? Not much. My hair is longer and it's no longer red. But other than that, life is pretty much the same.

At the beginning of the year, I chose a word. My word was "change." And so far, I haven't seen a lot of that. I need to do something about it. If I want things to change, I need to change them myself. If I do nothing, that's probably what I'll get in return. And that's not what I want.

So I will do something about it. I will change things. And then, maybe things will change me.
