One World One Heart Giveaway

Welcome one and all to my little piece of this world. Grab a hot cup of tea or coffee, get comfortable and take a look around. The place might be messy but I assure you, nothing'll jump out at you. Except maybe my cat. She just wants attention though so she won't hurt you.

On to the day's program... This is the 4th year that the wondeful Lisa is hosting the One World One Heart event and my 3rd year participating. I have made some new friends and discovered delightful blogs during this event in the past so I'm looking forward to more friends and more fun blogs this year as well. For those of you who don't know me, I am an artist working as a child educator. My art consists of many many things. I love to paint, draw, collage, assemble, sew, stuff, loom-knit, write, play... and so much more!

This year, I decided to offer a pair of wrist warmers, done with a round loom knitter. They measure approximately 8" long and are about 4" wide, laying flat (so 8" around.) This is what they look like:

January 22nd - 22 Janvier

I'm working on my prize for the One World One Heart giveaway which starts on Monday. If you've never heard of this event, click on the icon in the sidebar to read all about it.

I've started a bunch of little projects this week but nothing is finished. I can't seem to focus on one thing long enough to finish it. I get distracted by other ideas that I don't want to forget so I get started on them right away. As a result, I don't have anything to show you. My next blog post will be on Monday for the OWOH event. Come back then for a chance to win a handmade prize!

J'ai commencé une tonne de petits projets cette semaine mais rien n'est terminé. Je n'arrive pas à me concentrer sur une chose assez longtemps pour la finir. Je suis distraite par d'autres idées que je ne veux pas oublier alors je commence à les travailler tout de suite. Et pour cette raison, je n'ai rien à vous montrer. Ma prochaine entrée sur mon blogue sera Lundi pour l'événement OWOH. Revenez à ce moment-là pour une chance de gagner un prix fait à la main.

January 19th - 19 Janvier

In 2009, I participated in 52q, a project hosted by Emily Falconbridge. Each week, she would put up a question and those who were playing along would journal their answer in some way. I put my questions and answers on tags. And yesterday, I finally decided to assemble them into a book. Sort of. If you click on the photo, you will be taken to my set on Flickr where there are more photos of the book (and a few of the tags uploaded during the past year.)

En 2009, j'ai participé au projet 52q dont Emily Falconbridge était l'hôtesse. Chaque semaine, elle affichait une question et les participantes y répondaient d'une façon ou d'une autre, artistiquement. J'ai mis mes questions et réponses sur des étiquettes. Et hier, j'ai finalement décidé d'assembler le tout pour former un livre. En quelque sorte. Si vous cliquez sur la photo, vous trouverez mon album sur Flickr où vous verrez d'autres photos du livre (ainsi que des photos de quelques étiquettes affichées pendant l'année dernière.)

January 17th - 17 Janvier

In the spirit of reusing materials and inspired by this post on Alisa Burke's blog, I decided to save my egg carton and give it a second life. I painted the whole thing with acrylics: the outside in pink and the inside in mint green. I don't have any spray paint so I used some drawing ink to make drips in silver. After that dried, I painted the dots and finished by "sparying" purple drawing ink over the top.

This now fun looking organizer holds some bits and pieces I've been gathering for a while. I want to use them so it will be easier to see them in there than at the bottom of a drawer.

Avec l'idée de réutiliser des matériaux et inspirée pas cette entrée sur le blog d'Alisa Burke, j'ai décidé de sauver mon carton à oeufs et de lui donner une deuxième vie. J'ai peint le tout avec des acryliques: l'extérieur en rose et l'intérieur en vert menthe. Je n'ai pas de peinture en aérosol alors j'ai utilisé de l'encre à dessin pour faire couler des gouttelettes en argent. Après un temps de séchage, j'ai peint des cercles et j'ai fini en éclaboussant le dessus d'encre à dessin pourpre.

Ce joli organisateur contient des pièces que je ramasse depuis un bout de temps. Je veux m'en servir alors ce sera plus facile de les voir dans ce contenant que dans le fond d'un tiroir.

January 15th - 15 Janvier

I haven't done a 12x12 scrapbook page in over a year. And last night, I made two! Ok, so they go together but still, I made two pages. The photos are from a surprise party that my family and friends held for my 17th birthday. And it was quite a surprise. Here is the list of material I used: patterned papers from Making Memories, cardstock, ribbon, rubber stamp and inks from Stampin' Up!, black felt pen from Creative Memories and the chipboard letters and rub-on letters are from a huge bag donated to me by CeeCee last summer (mostly to use with the kids for my summer art camp but I dip in the stash from time to time...) And I based my layout on a pattern from a 3-years-old scrapbooking magazine. I'm really proud of these pages!

Je n'ai pas fait de page de scrapbook 12x12 depuis plus d'un an. Et hier soir, j'en ai fait deux! Bon, d'accord, elles forment un tout mais quand même, j'ai fait deux pages. Les photos sont d'une fête surprise que ma famille et mes amies ont tenue pour mes 17 ans. Et ce fut toute une surprise. Voici la liste des matériaux utilisés: papiers à motifs de Making Memories, carton, ruban, étampe et encres de Stampin' Up!, stylo feutre noir de Creative Memories et les lettres en carton aggloméré et en transfert proviennent d'un gros sac, un don de CeeCee l'été dernier (surtout utilisé avec les enfants pour mon camps artistique estival mais parfois je pige dedans...) Et j'ai basé ma présentation sur un patron provenant d'une revue de scrapbooking d'il y a 3 ans. Je suis vraiment fière de ces pages!

January 14th - 14 Janvier

On my craft table right now: photos, pretty papers, ribbons, rubber stamps and ink. Could it be? Is it true? Yes, my dears, I am scrapbooking! A double page layout with photos from 15 years ago. It's not done yet but it's coming along nicely. I will probably post a photo of the finished pages tomorrow night.

Sur ma table d'artisanat présentement: photos, jolis papiers, rubans, étampes et encre. Est-ce possible? Est-ce vrai? Oui, mes chères, je fais du scrapbooking! Une page double avec des photos datants de 15 ans. Ce n'est pas terminé encore mais ça s'en vient bien. J'afficherai probablement une photo des pages terminées demain soir.

January 12th - 12 Janvier

I haven't shown you a photo of Diesel in a while so that's what you get to look at today since I don't have anything crafty to show you. This photo was taken on Christmas eve when Diesel played with her new toy for the first time. She loves it and luckily for me, it doesn't make a lot of noise.

Je ne vous ai pas montré de photo de Diesel depuis un bon moment alors c'est ce que vous avez le plaisir de regarder aujourd'hui puisque que je n'ai rien d'artisanal à vous montrer. Cette photo a été prise la veille de Noël quand Diesel a joué pour la première fois avec son nouveau jouet. Elle l'adore et heureusement pour moi, ça ne fait pas beaucoup de bruit.

January 10th - 10 Janvier

These are the drawings I made Friday night while at the coffee shop. I haven't created anything new this weekend but ideas are brewing all the time.

Voici les dessins que j'ai fait Vendredi soir alors que j'étais au café. Je n'ai rien créé de nouveau en fin de semaine mais les idées mijotent en tout temps.

January 8th - 8 Janvier

Here he is. A little stuffed owl made out of felt. That's what I made yesterday. And I plan to make him a bunch of little friends too. Above him, you can see another felt ornament I made in the past few weeks. Apparently, I like working with brown felt!

Tonight, I decided to go out for a bit. I went to a coffee shop and got a small Chai latte (I love this drink) and a piece of blueberry cheesecake. Yummy! While enjoying my treats, I drew a mandala and a zentangle. One of my goals this year is to go out more often and to create art in public. For now, doodling is perfect because I only need a small journal and a pen. I'll share photos of the drawings over the weekend. Have a nice one!

Le voici! Un petit hibou rembourré, fait de feutrine. C'est ce que j'ai fait hier. Et j'ai l'intention de lui faire plein de petits amis. Au-dessus de lui, vous pouvez voir une autre décoration en feutrine que j'ai fait dans les dernières semaines. Apparement, j'aime utiliser la feutrine brune!

Ce soir, j'ai décidé de sortir pour un moment. Je suis allée dans un café et je me suis commandé un petit Chai latté (j'adore ce breuvage) et un morceau de gâteau au fromage aux bleuets. Miam! Pendant que je dégustais ces douceurs, j'ai dessiné un mandala et un zentangle. Un de mes buts cette année est de sortir plus souvent et de créer des oeuvres en public. Pour l'instant, le gribouillage est parfait parce que je n'ai besoin que d'une petit journal et d'un stylo. Je vous montrerai des photos de mes dessins pendant la fin de semaine. January 7th - 7 Janvier

I don't have a lot to write today but I did want to post a sneak peek at what I'm working on right now. And I played with the macro adapter ring for my camera to take the photo. I can't wait to play with it in the spring and summer to takes photos of insects and flowers and more. Back to my little project I go!

Je n'ai pas grand chose à écrire aujourd'hui mais je voulais tout de même afficher un apperçu du projet sur lequel je travaille présentement. Et j'ai joué avec la bague d'inversion pour ma caméra pour prendre cette photo. J'ai hâte de l'utiliser au printemps et à l'été pour prendre des photos d'insectes, de fleurs et plus. Je retourne à mon petit projet!

January 5th - 5 Janvier

Although I haven't been very creative in the past few days, I did finish drawing this mandala that I had started in December. I started working on another one but it's not done yet. I really enjoy creating these drawings. I draw them while watching television, while sitting with kids at work, while waiting at the hairdresser's, etc. It's relaxing. I decided that this little white book will now be exclusively for mandalas. And I plan on having a zentangle book because I love drawing those just as much. I think it the repetition of movement, of pattern that I like so much about those types of drawing. And the fact that I can't rush them. I really have to slow down and see the lines and dots as I draw them. And stop worrying about everything. Just focus on the drawing, on the patterns... Now, I think I'll go make some felt ornaments.

By the way, my knuckle is not 100% but it's much better than it was over the weekend.

Même si je n'ai pas été très créative ces derniers jours, j'ai tout de même fini ce mandala que j'avais commencé en Décembre. J'en ai commencé un autre mais il n'est pas terminé. J'aime beaucoup créer ces dessins. Je dessine pendant que je regarde la télévision, assise avec des enfants au travail, en attendant chez la coiffeuse, etc. C'est relaxant. J'ai décidé que ce petit livre blanc servira exclusivement à faire des mandalas. Et j'ai l'intention d'avoir un livre pour mes zentangles parce que j'aime les dessiner tout autant que les mandalas. Je pense que c'est la répétition du mouvement, des motifs que j'aime tant dans ces genres de dessins. Et le fait que je ne peux pas les faire vite. Il faut vraiment que je prenne mon temps pour voir les lignes et les points quand je les dessine. Et arrêter de m'en faire avec tout le reste. Juste me concentrer sur le dessin, sur les motifs... Maintenant, je pense que je vais aller faire des décorations en feutrine.

En passant, ma jointure n'est pas remise à 100% mais elle est beaucoup mieux qu'elle ne l'était en fin de semaine.

January 3rd - 3 Janvier

I had a big plan to fill my journal in December. It didn't work as well as I had thought at first. But these are photos of what did make it in the journal.

I'm keeping it short today because I have a swollen knuckle which makes it hard to type well. I have no idea how I hurt it but hopefully it will get better soon.

J'avais la bonne intention de remplir mon journal en Décembre. Ça n'a pas fonctionné aussi bien que je le croyais au début. Mais voici les photos de ce qui a trouvé sa place dans le journal.

Je garde ça court aujourd'hui parce que j'ai une jointure enflée qui rend l'utilisation du clavier difficile. Je ne sais pas comment je me suis blessée mais j'espère que ça ira mieux bientôt.

January 1st - 1er Janvier

As planned, I made a list of my accomplishments for the year 2009. I'm sure I left out a few things but I think it was a pretty good year for me. For 2009, I had picked the word "change" to focus on and I've seen a bit of change during that year. This year, I can't seem to pick one word. So I'm picking two instead: movement and open. I can't wait to see what those words will bring to me in this new year. Have you chosen a word or are you doing the resolutions thing?

Comme prévu, j'ai fait une liste de mes réalisations pour l'année 2009. Je suis certaine d'avoir omis quelques petites choses mais je crois que ce fut une très bonne année pour moi. Pour 2009, j'avais choisi le mot "changement", sur lequel je voulais me concentrer et j'ai vu plein de petits changements pendant l'année. Cette année, je n'arrive pas à choisir un mot. Alors j'en choisi deux à la place: mouvement et ouverte. J'ai hâte de voir ce que ces deux mots m'apporteront pendant cette nouvelle année. Avez-vous choisi un mot ou faites-vous des résolutions?
