Leftover pieces from cut-up t-shirts. Some stitching and embroidery by hand. I will keep embellishing some of the squares and then will probably turn this into a pillow. Or had squares all around and turn it into a small blanket. Time will tell...

Leaves in my felt journal - Feuilles dans mon journal en feutrine

I'm sort of obsessed with making leaves lately. So I decided to make a page for my felt journal with leaves on it. I played with a few stitches. Simple but I like it.

Je suis un peu obsédée par la fabrication de feuilles dernièrement. Alors j'ai décidé de faire une page pour mon journal en feutrine avec des feuilles dessus. J'ai joué avec quelques points de broderie. Simple mais je l'aime bien.

Felt journal page - Page de journal en feutrine

I haven't played in my felt journal in a while so I thought I'd get back to it this week. It sort of looks like a landscape but really, I was just trying some new stitches and this is what it now looks like.

Il y a longtemps que je n'avais pas joué dans mon journal en feutrine alors j'ai pensé m'y remettre cette semaine. Ça ressemble un peu à un paysage mais en réalité, j'essayais simplement de nouveaux points de broderie et c'est ce que ça donne maintenant.

Felt grid page - Page de feutrine grillagée

Inspired by all the "grid action" I made this page for the felt journal. Had fun playing with different stitches. I'll show a better picture after I stitch this page to its back. Keeping it short today: I spent most of the weekend with my mother and my grandparents + I'm setting up the laptop that my father bought me.

Inspirée par toute l'action "grillagée" j'ai fait cette page pour mon journal en feutrine. J'ai eu du plaisir avec les différents points de broderie. Je montrerai une meilleure photo après avoir cousu cette page à son dos. Je garde ça court aujourd'hui: j'ai passé presque toute la fin de semaine avec ma mère et mes grands-parents + je fais l'installation de l'ordinateur portable que mon père m'a acheté.

Felt journal cover - Couverture de journal en feutrine

Yesterday, I suddenly had the urge to do some hand-stitching and make a fabric journal cover. I decided to use felt because I have tons of it. I started by cutting two cardboard pieces 5-1/4" x 7-1/4". Then, I cut two pieces of felt in orange and two in yellow, about a half inch bigger than the cardboard on all four sides. I cut the pieces for the sun out of the leftovers from one of the yellow sheets. I stitched the sun on one layer of felt as well as the two triangles at the top. I sandwiched a piece of cardboard between that layer and a yellow piece of felt and stitched them together as close to the cardboard as I could. I finished the cover with two eyelets in the top triangles so I can bind my journal with rings. The back cover was done in the same manner except that I embroidered the words "le journal soleil", which turned out a bit wonky but that's ok. Now, I'm not sure if the pages will be made on paper or on felt. I'll let you know when it happens and will show photos as well.

Hier, j'ai eu le goût soudain de coudre à la main et de faire une couverture de journal en tissu. J'ai décidé de me servir de la feutrine puisque j'en ai des tonnes. J'ai commencé par couper deux morceaux de carton rigide 13,30cm x 18,40cm. Puis, j'ai coupé deux morceaux de feutrine en orange et deux en jaune, environ 1,25cm plus grand que le carton sur les quatres côtés. J'ai coupé les morceaux pour le soleil dans des retailles d'une des feuilles jaune. J'ai cousu le soleil sur une épaisseur de feutrine ainsi que les deux triangles dans le haut. J'ai placé le carton en sandwich entre cette épaisseur et un morceau de feutrine jaune et je les ai cousus ensemble en restant le plus près possible du carton. J'ai terminé la couverture avec deux oeillets dans les triangles du haut pour pouvoir relier mon journal avec des anneaux. La couverture arrière a été faite de la même façon sauf que j'ai brodé les mots "le journal soleil", qui a fini un peu croche mais ça va comme ça. Maintenant, je ne suis pas certaines si les pages seront sur du papier ou de la feutrine. Je vous le laisserai savoir et je vous montrerai des photos à ce moment-là.
