Zentangle ATC #9 of 9 - CAÉ zentangle #9 de 9

I finally completed the last ATC in my full page mosaic. And here are the 9 ATCs assembled:

I'm really happy with the result. And now, I'm not sure I want to see them go! Maybe I'll keep just one of them and trade all the others...

Mandala The view within - La vue vers l'intérieur

I made this mandala as my answer to a prompt on Wild Precious - Making Mandalas. I started by tracing the circle, then I drew some patterns and repeated them. I didn't want my circle to seem overly filled so I left a lot of white space. Also, I enjoyed trying this new pattern from the Zentangle newsletter.

A few little things - Quelques petites choses

I have a few things to show you today.
J'ai quelques choses à vous montrer aujourd'hui.

First off, the cover of my March journal. I haven't done nearly as much as I would've liked in it but I did do a few pages which I will show next week. Next to it is a smaller journal which was made from the third signature of the journal, which fell out due to a bad choice in thread for the binding.

Next, a simple mandala done over the weekend and which I had completely forgotten about before making this post!

Finally, this is the #1 ATC for the Zentangle mosaic. I only have two left and the set will be complete. I am looking forward to seeing the final result.

Zentangle ATC #3 of 9 - CAÉ zentangle #3 de 9

Last week, I told you about my Zentangle set of ATC. I had shown you card #4. This week is card #3 which will be the upper right corner.

Ever since learning about Zentangle, I've been wanting to make a set of 9 ATCs that would create a whole when put together. So yesterday, I finally got started on that. I drew my "string" on a piece of 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock and cut it down to 9 ATCs (2-1/2" x 3-1/2".) I numbered them on the back to know which one goes where once they're all done. I picked one without looking (#4 here) and started filling it in. I will show them all individually when they are done and at the end, I'll show the whole group together. After which, they will be available to trade.

Zentangling while waiting - Zentangler en attendant

Yesterday, while waiting to see my doctor, I decided to start a Zentangle doodle. I finished it while watching television in the evening.

I used my sampler from last week to do this Zentangle.

My mom and I like to draw Zentangles®. So I made a Zentangle® sampler of the ones I have learned from the newsletters. This was done on plain paper so it can be folded to fit in an envelop or in a sketchbook. I'm thinking of ordering the official Zentangle® kit to get their Zentangle Legend™.

The Zentangle® art form and method was created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. Zentangle® is a registered trademark of Zentangle, Inc. Learn more at zentangle.com.

Zentangle

I haven't done a Zentangle® in quite some time and last night seemed like the perfect time to draw one while watching television and relaxing after my belly-dancing class. I'm not always sure how to do the shading but I guess practice makes perfect.

These are two ATCs I made over the weekend for the Zentangle-a-thon on Atcs For All. Both cards have already been traded on the board. It's been a while since I traded over there but I've decided to give it a shot again. It's so fun to receive beautiful art in the mail!

Synchronicity and Serendipity

I actually started typing Sunchronicity. I like that! I may start using that word now. You know, when the sun comes out exactly when you need a little encouragement or something similar. "I was feeling sad this morning when I woke up. And then I started thinking about you and the sun came out right at that moment. Man, that was some good Sunchronicity!" Yep, I like it!

Anyway, I wasn't going to post tonight because I just wasn't feeling it. But then I made my DAC (Daily Art Card), which is NOT the one posted above but similar to it. Inspired by Zentangles. I've read about them on many blogs and forums and finally caved in to see what the fuss was all about. Well, I have to say, it's nothing new to me. I've been doing these kinds of drawings since I was a kid but we just call them doodles or Dessin Sans Dessein which basically means a Drawing without Intention (or without Design.) A drawing that hasn't been thought out prior to being put on paper and which does not represent anything in particular. So anyway, like I said, I've been doing these since I was a kid but hadn't done any in a couple of years. So I decided to draw them again and to use them as a sort of meditation (speaking of which, I've given up meditating on a daily basis; I really don't enjoy it all that much... so I'm doing other things instead like Zentangles-type drawings and knitting.) So expect to see a few more of these drawings.

One of the reasons I wanted to write about synchronicity tonight is that for the past 2 weeks, I've been getting messages from here and there about a singer/songwriter I greatly admire: Leonard Cohen. He's a Montreal native and for as long as I can remember, I've loved his music. But I hadn't taken the time to listen to it for a while now. So a few days ago, I put on the only CD of his I own, Cohen Live, and rediscovered some of my all-time favourites. And I think it was the next day that I heard he was being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and that he will be in concert in Montreal for the Jazz Festival. I would so love to see him in concert but at the moment, I can't afford it. Maybe one day soon.

My thoughts are getting scattered again. I've had back pain for a couple of days now and the pills I took are not helping (nor did rubbing and putting heat and/or cold on it...) So I'm going to bed in hopes of waking up in better shape tomorrow. Goodnight.
