Zentangle ATC #9 of 9 - CAÉ zentangle #9 de 9

I finally completed the last ATC in my full page mosaic. And here are the 9 ATCs assembled:

I'm really happy with the result. And now, I'm not sure I want to see them go! Maybe I'll keep just one of them and trade all the others...

I have started making simple ATCs again, mostly because I want to have a few available to trade with my mother's students. I love to encourage young talents and I think that trading ATCs with them is a great way to do so. I have a few in the works but this one was finished while watching the final game between the Habs and the Bruins. I rarely watch whole hockey games because I get over-excited but I just had to watch that one last night. Unfortunately, the Habs lost but it was a really great game.

A few little things - Quelques petites choses

I have a few things to show you today.
J'ai quelques choses à vous montrer aujourd'hui.

First off, the cover of my March journal. I haven't done nearly as much as I would've liked in it but I did do a few pages which I will show next week. Next to it is a smaller journal which was made from the third signature of the journal, which fell out due to a bad choice in thread for the binding.

Next, a simple mandala done over the weekend and which I had completely forgotten about before making this post!

Finally, this is the #1 ATC for the Zentangle mosaic. I only have two left and the set will be complete. I am looking forward to seeing the final result.

Zentangle ATC #3 of 9 - CAÉ zentangle #3 de 9

Last week, I told you about my Zentangle set of ATC. I had shown you card #4. This week is card #3 which will be the upper right corner.

Ever since learning about Zentangle, I've been wanting to make a set of 9 ATCs that would create a whole when put together. So yesterday, I finally got started on that. I drew my "string" on a piece of 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock and cut it down to 9 ATCs (2-1/2" x 3-1/2".) I numbered them on the back to know which one goes where once they're all done. I picked one without looking (#4 here) and started filling it in. I will show them all individually when they are done and at the end, I'll show the whole group together. After which, they will be available to trade.

Two new ATCs - Deux nouvelles CAÉs

Last night, because I was tired after my belly dance class, I wanted something quick and simple to do for today's post. So I made these two ATCs.
The frog was coloured with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless solvent and a paper stump.

The trees were coloured with watercolour paint.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway if you haven't already.

ATCs from the swap - CAÉ de l'échange

These are the two ATCs I made for the swap hosted by Janet and Lee. My partner was Anna Rosa.
And these are the cards I received from Anna Rosa. They are all full of texture. The colours didn't come out right in the photo and were worse with the scanner. The butterfly card is actually greener than that.

Ca-fée, the coffee faerie - La fée du café

I signed up for a swap at Atcs For All which is called "Freakish, Functional and/or Funny Faeries."

This is Ca-fée, the coffee faerie. She makes sure they get your order right at the coffee shop and she also makes sure there's coffee beans/grounds, milk (or cream) and sugar for your morning coffee at home or at work.

In french, faerie is fée and coffee is café.

Mini Mandalas

Inspired by Hanna and Kate, I decided to try Michelle Ward's challenge of going XL or XS in our art. In this case, I went the XS route. For size comparision: the first mandala was drawn on an ATC (2,5" x 3,5") which is a size I regularly work on, the second one on a "twinchie" (2" x 2") and finally, the third one, on a 1-inch square, also called an "inchie." It was quite a challenge going this small and I was glad to have my .005 Micron pen for the smaller details. I also want to try going XL in my old 12" x 18" sketchbook but that will take a lot more time. And patience!

These are two ATCs I made over the weekend for the Zentangle-a-thon on Atcs For All. Both cards have already been traded on the board. It's been a while since I traded over there but I've decided to give it a shot again. It's so fun to receive beautiful art in the mail!

Round Robin ATC

One of the things I'm hooked up on lately is Round Robin ATCs. The way it works is: the 1st person creates the backgrounds, the 2nd player adds approximately the same things to all the cards (one for each player) and the third player finishes the cards. Each player gets one of the cards in the end.

At first, I didn't know how I would feel about working on a card started by someone else. But now, I like the challenge. In fact I can't get enough of those Round Robins! I'm even thinking of hosting one myself this summer.

Speaking of summer, lots of plans are bubbling. I'll probably spend a weekend in Ontario for a live ATC trade + art day + meeting one of the Glitter Power Sisters! Very exciting! I have plans to go to the movies with Anik and to the museum too. I'm sure I'll have plenty of outings with Catherine too (by the way, for those who don't know, Catherine and CeeCee are one and the same.) My brother is going to Florida for a few days so I'll have to go take care of his cats a few times. And then I want to take control of my living room/studio. I need to get organized and to get rid of more stuff.

School finishes next Monday, on the 23rd. The 24th is a provincial holiday. And I'm working the rest of the week (25-26-27th) but only in the mornings (7:00-11:30) and I already have plans for 2 of those afternoons. Busy summer ahead it seems!

And the winner is...

According to the Random Number Generator, the winner is number 5 but since my mother who was the second to comment isn't participating (she can get my art any time she wants!) that makes the fifth commenter..... ANGELA!!! Congratulations!

This is a triptych I made for an ATC swap. I'm trying to do different types of ATCs and to not always do the messy collages I make. It's not easy but I'm trying. For the past 15 days, on top of doing my Daily Art Card which can be anything from drawing to painting or collaging, I also started keeping a small book on my nightstand where I make one drawing every night before going to bed. It's good practice. And an artist always needs practice in my opinion. Tomorrow I'm having a craft day with CeeCee and my mother. Should be fun!

Making art for others

I've been doing a lot of art lately. Mostly for swaps. Or friends. Or challenges. Not a lot of "just for me" art. That's ok. As long as I'm creating and having fun. Which I am.

What I love about working with the ATC format is that it is big enough that I can make elaborate drawings or detailed collages if I want to but it is also small enough that I have to limit myself to not over-do it.

This card is for the Fun and Funky Cats swap. She is made of collaged papers, drawn and coloured cat and embellished with a dry embossed basket (made of cardstock), some yarn and metal wire for the knitting needles! Such fun!

Art Cards

Busy times. I've been asked to fill in for one of my coworkers yesterday and today morning. It's only one hour each time I do it but it's that much more money on my paycheck too! Plus, today we had an extended meeting (an hour and a half instead of the usual 30 minutes so even more money!) This morning, as I was on my walk, I kept thinking that this week is a great week for extra money (no particular reason other than I would like to have a bit more money these days.)

Yesterday was Catherine's Open House for the new Stampin Up! line and catalog. Lots of people showed up. It was fun. I saw an ex-coworker I hadn't seen since almost a year (we used to work together at the store) so that was nice.

A lot of busy days/weeks coming up. I might not be able to blog as regularly as I have lately but I will be creating daily! And I'll definitely blog for the OWOH giveaway. I know what I'm giving away now I just have to complete it! And I'll do that as soon as I put this post to bed. ;-)

Images for today are art cards from the last few days. The first and second one are my Daily Art Cards and the third is my fourth entry for the Deck Of Me Challenge. The theme was "a symbol you love" and I chose the fleur-de-lys, a symbol of my heritage (being french canadian and all...)
And apparently I have a thing for hearts these days!

Thanks for looking and come back before the weekend for the giveaway!

Art Cards, WIP, giveaway and life

So I've had this post open for 10 minutes and don't know what to type.

I slept in late today. I was exhausted apparently. It felt good. So far, I haven't been very productive. I did go grocery shopping. And not much cooking. I prepared a chick pea salad (dressing on the side) for the next few days. And the only actual cooking was wild rice to which I added canned tuna and whole kernel corn. A bit of lemony spices and olive oil and I had a simple yet delicious meal. No muffins today. I'll have time tomorrow morning seeing as I am filling in for one of my coworkers in the morning and will come back home afterwards.

I finally decided not to order from ArtChix this time around. Instead, I'll be ordering rubber stamps next week. I got a new DVD yesterday while shopping with mom: Moulin Rouge! One of my favourite movies. Ewan McGregor singing... Mmmm...

The first two images are my Art Cards for Friday and Saturday. The first one using supplies from ArtChix and the second one was done very quickly last night using rub-ons, a piece of newspaper, watercolour crayon, permanent marker for doodling, white acryclic ink with dip pen and gel pen for colouring the heart.

Finally, the last two images are works in progress. The first one is for Valentine ATCs and the second one is for my "connect" page for Emily's art journal challenge.

I finally decided what I'm giving away for the One World One Heart Giveaway. You'll get to see what it is and sign up for it some time this week. Be sure to visit the blog to have access to other giveaways. Some people already have them up on their blog and there's lots of interesting stuff!

I'm thinking of signing up for a Chunky Book Swap on the ArtChix Yahoo Group. Haven't made up my mind yet though. I still have time to think about it.

Well, that's it. It took me nearly one hour for this little post.
